It is week 2 of the One Room Challenge and I’m sharing the progress so far which includes painting walls! Our master bedroom is already changing so much with just paint on the walls! We are also working on our feature grid wall for behind our bed.

WEEK 1 | WEEK 2 | WEEK 3 | WEEK 4 | WEEK 5 | WEEK 6 | WEEK 7 | WEEK 8
The One Room Challenge is underway (read more about it here!) and the featured designers and guest participants have started on their rooms. This challenge is so fun because you get to work alongside so many other talented designers that will create rooms of their own. I love getting to connect with them and see their amazing work!
Last week I shared my design plan for the bedroom and the projects I plan to tackle. In years past for the ORC I have completed a kitchen makeover, girls’ bedroom makeover, and a guest bathroom makeover. It’s always a fun challenge that gives me motivation to finish a room!

I’ve chosen to work on our master bedroom for this round. For the design I’ve picked out some new furniture, a new layout, and a feature wall for behind our bed. The other DIY project that we will be tackling is a DIY barn door! We have been wanting to try building a barn door, so this is the perfect opportunity.
I have been doing some research on different styles of barn doors to find one that would suit the room. I love barn doors like this modern door from Angela Rose Home, and I think it would be perfect for the room. Now I just have to decide on a design, and color for the room. I think adding a wood toned door would bring some warmth to the room.
Painting Walls In The Master Bedroom
The first project I tackled this last week was painting the walls. I decided on the color Pure White from Sherwin Williams. I love that it is a soft white that has a slight grey tone. I’ll be painting the trim and doors in a bright white (Ultra Pure White from Behr) that will have a slight contrast against the wall color.
Some of my favorite painting supplies are from Handy Products – and I always make sure to use their products with all my painting projects! My favorites include the Handy Paint Tray with removable liners, and the Handy Paint Pail with removable liners. The removable liners make cleanup a breeze, and the built-in magnets to hold paintbrushes in place are genius!
DIY Grid Wall
We started on our feature wall this weekend too! I have been wanting to create a grid wall in our home for some time, and now it’s finally happening! I’ll be detailing the process in next week’s blog post, so be sure to come back next week for that reveal!
