We recently tackled another room in our new home, and just finished this affordable small bathroom makeover! I was able to use paint, peel & stick wallpaper, printable artwork, a new vanity & faucet, new lighting, and new accessories to bring this space to life!

We moved into our new home 6 months ago and have been making our house feel like home ever since! So far I have given 7 areas in our home a makeover and I’ve been loving it SO much!
First we tackled the living room with some electrical changes (that we hired out!) by removing a chandelier and added a ceiling fan and some can lighting. We also added a DIY shiplap fireplace and created a feature wall with built-in cabinets and shelving on both sides of the fireplace. A detailed post of how we completed it will be coming to the blog very soon!
Then I gave our laundry room a makeover and only spent $90 for the $100 Room Challenge. I was able to re-purpose decor I had on hand, re-use extra paint, and purchase just a couple new items to create a brand new space. My favorite project in the laundry room was hand painting an accent wall to look like wallpaper!

Next I took on our kitchen for this fall’s One Room Challenge, and boy was that a difficult challenge! I added a new PVC backsplash, painted the pantry door, painted all the cabinets, added a light fixture above the sink, painted the walls, and added new hardware in just under 2 months. It was definitely a big undertaking, but now that it’s finished I’m LOVING the result!

Here is a look at the BEFORE of our small bathroom. Not much to look at, and some room to improve!

Affordable Small Bathroom Makeover
I knew I wanted our downstairs bathroom to have a big impact on a small budget, and I was able to do that with affordable purchases and some bold colors and patterns. I put together this mood board for the makeover to see how everything would look together!

For this bathroom makeover I wanted to update the vanity to modernize the space, and I really wanted a smooth countertop (not a fan of the square tile counters!). I found this super affordable vanity from Lowe’s that fit our space, and looks beautiful!
I found the beautiful peel & stick wallpaper from Timberlea wallpaper, and it brings some serious impact to the room! The neutral color and pattern draws your eye to the wall behind the sink creating a feature wall. This is my 3rd time installing peel & stick wallpaper and I’ve been SO happy with the result every time!

Another project we added was a vertical shiplap wall behind the door. Nic and a friend of ours added some of our extra shiplap (from our fireplace project) vertically to the wall, and then added a 4 inch board horizontally across the top to create a place to install hooks for a towel rack.
After the shiplap and board were nailed to the wall, I filled in the nail holes with wood filler and then sanded them down afterwards. Then I painted it in the color Pewter Green from Sherwin Williams. I already had some hooks on hand, so I used some small wood screws to install the hooks evenly spaced apart, and then pained the screw heads black after they were installed.
I really loved the idea of adding tons of hooks for extra storage. We have 4 kiddos and this is the only bathroom on our main floor, so this bathroom gets a lot of use! And I see it getting used more and more as they all get older!
I wasn’t loving the color of the shower surround, or the texture of the shower door. My budget friendly solution was to cover the door with a rod, beautiful shower curtain and shower curtain hooks! This quick solution makes the shower look updated without doing a full-on demo and having to remove the whole shower.

For storage I added a wood shelf with black brackets that I found on Facebook Marketplace for $8. This shelf provided a space for both decor and some functional storage for smaller bathroom items.
This light fixture above the mirror was an amazing find – I LOVE the shape and color so much. It has a vintage touch with the textured glass shade that makes my heart so happy! I’m also loving this brass mirror from Target – it’s super heavy duty and has some beautiful character for being brand new.
