I’ve been painting furniture for years now, and had always used my paint brushes. I had the chance to use a Homeright Finish Max paint sprayer to give a second-hand coffee table a makeover, and I love the results!
Thank you to Homeright for providing me with a paint sprayer for this product review!

Paint can do wonders. It can give cabinets, walls, trim, lights, decor and furniture a brand new life. I have used paint to transform so many things in my years of DIY.
I had been wanting to try out a paint sprayer for some time, so I was SUPER excited to partner with Homeright for this project! I’ve only used paint with paintbrushes and spray paint. So I was so intrigued to see how the paint sprayer would perform.
They sent me their Super Finish Max HVLP Paint Sprayer to use on a project. I had quite a few ideas in mind! I’ve become a bit of a project “hoarder” and love to rescue items to fix them up. My garage has been a constant storage space for my projects!
I recently scored a great round coffee table for free on a Facebook Buy/Sell/Trade group. I knew that it would look amazing once it was painted! It had seen multiple coats of paint that had slowly chipped away on the top. The bottom section with the legs was painted black but was chipping a little in sections.

How To Transform Furniture With A Homeright Paint Sprayer
I had some white latex paint in my paint stash (from painting the walls of our fixer upper!) and knew it would be perfect for this table. After I filled up the paint container halfway with my paint I added about 10 – 15% water to thin the paint and stirred it up slowly with a stir stick. Stirring the paint slowly will prevent bubbles and ensures a smooth finish.
Then I referred to my Homeright paint sprayer manual to decide which nozzle to use. I wanted a fine spray to make sure the finish was smooth and thin. I went with a the green metal nozzle which is ideal for latex paint, and then the black plastic nozzle for a fine spray.
The manual also details which direction to turn the black plastic nozzle for the type of spray you want. You can pick from a horizontal spray, vertical spray, or round spray. The type of spray you pick will depend on the direction that you are moving your paint sprayer in while you are painting.
For example, if you will be spraying a tall item where you’ll be lift and lowering the paint sprayer up and down, you’ll want to set the spray to be horizontal to get the best coverage onto your piece. If you’ll be moving your paint sprayer from left to right horizontally, you’ll set your spray to be vertical. I chose to use the round spray because my table required using lots of different directions. The round spray is great for a piece that has lots of nooks and crannies to get into.
I found that it is always good to do a practice run to make sure you’re comfortable with the spray. Just practicing on a piece of scrap wood or cardboard will do the trick and help you get comfortable with the sprayer. This will help prevent errors and mistakes before you start on your project.
The Speed Is Amazing!
After using the Homeright paint sprayer for just a few minutes to spray my coffee table, I was in love with the ease and painting speed! I couldn’t believe how fast the paint sprayer covered my table. It took me less than 10 minutes to give my coffee table one coat of paint, with amazing coverage!

The speed really is impressive! I’m used to spending hours painting furniture with a traditional paint brush due to hard to reach angles and trying to prevent brush strokes. The paint sprayer doesn’t leave any brush strokes whatsoever and has a super smooth finish. And hard to reach angles aren’t an issue with the paint sprayer!
It’s Easy To Operate
I really love how easy it is to operate. The paint sprayer has a lot of power and therefore makes it easy to operate. It is definitely user friendly and will save you SO much time on your projects! I’m so excited to use this again very soon to tackle another one of my “hoarded” projects in my garage!

When you are finished with your paint sprayer, you’ll need to refer to the manual for the cleaning instructions. You definitely don’t want any dried paint getting stuck inside the sprayer that might hinder the function of it for future projects. The cleaning process does take a bit of time to get everything clean, but I think it is worth it to have such a time-saving painting process for painting furniture!
What do you think of my coffee table makeover? I love how clean and fresh it looks with white paint. Once I seal it with a top coat it will be the perfect place for my little ones to play on in our family room. I’m so glad I was able to give this little table a new life using paint and Homeright Paint Sprayer!
