Every second Tuesday of the month I’ve been joining up with some of my blogger friends to bring you a Thrift Store Transformation Tuesday Blog Hop! We will all show you our latest Thrift Store transformations to bring you some serious inspiration and DIY project ideas!

I’ve been using this black spray paint for a couple of recent DIY projects, and I have to say that it has amazing coverage and lasts a long time! I’ve already used it for this wall shelf DIY, an accordion hat rack, and some drawer handles, and I still have some left over!
This spray paint has a built in primer, meaning that it gives a thick coverage. I’m all about saving time on projects and only having to apply one coat of spray paint is such a time saver! On all of my projects using this spray paint I’ve only needed one coat to get the job done. That makes this DIYer SUPER happy!
The Best Black Spray Paint + DIY Shelf
I found this vintage wall shelf on Facebook Marketplace, and fell in love with the shape of the sides. It is perfect for above our toilet in our master bathroom to add some storage! However I wasn’t in love with the original wood color and decided to paint it black to add some contrast. Here is the shelf before I added spray paint:

To prepare the shelf for paint I simply cleaned it off with water and a towel. It didn’t have any major dents or dings, so I didn’t need to do any repairs to the shelf itself. After it had dried I gave it one coat of my favorite black spray paint outside, and let it dry for around an hour. We live in a very dry hot area of California so it didn’t take much time for it to dry!
Then I used some screws and wall anchors to mount it to the wall above our toilet in our master bathroom. We have a black mirror over our vanity, so the black shelf goes perfectly with it! I’ve been loving using black as an accent color in our home lately, especially to give contrast to the Behr Silver Drop that we painted on almost every wall in our home!

I styled the shelves with a fern I picked up at Trader Joe’s, the cutest little wood house and bud vase from the Hearth and Hand line at Target, a tiny faux plant from the dollar spot at Target, and some neatly folded hand towels. With the black on the shelf I wanted to add some contrast with the plants and wood tones of the house and vase. I hope these wall decor ideas help inspire you for decorating your own shelves!
