This modern farmhouse dresser makeover is so good, that I just couldn’t wait to show you guys! I just finished giving this beautiful antique dresser a much needed makeover using Fusion Mineral Paint. I’m so smitten with how it turned out! The white color combined with some dark modern handles has me obsessed with it!
When I first found this gem on Facebook Marketplace for $60 I knew I had to grab it! I was in need of a smaller dresser for our new master bedroom in our fixer upper and this one was the perfect size. It came with an attached mirror, but it definitely dated the piece so I choose to remove it to modernize it.
There were some marks where the dresser drawers had some old locks with key holes. It looked like they had been filled in (not very well) but it still needed some leveling out. I added some wood filler, and then sanded them down to make the surface smooth. Then I dusted the drawers with a lint-free cloth to remove any dust.
Instead of having an old attached mirror to the dresser I added a mirror to the wall, to act as a vanity. I’ve had this mirror for a few years and this was the perfect spot for it! I love that the mirror brings visual interest to the wall while also being functional for a “vanity”.
I knew that white would make the dresser pop, and I love the color Casement from Fusion Mineral Paint. It is a bright white, and it took around 3 coats to cover up the orangey wood color. Some spots only needed 2 coats, but the top needed an additional coat due to some discoloring on the wood. I love that hardly any prep work is needed for this paint, just giving the piece a quick wipe-down to get rid of any dirt or dust. The paint adheres to the surface so well and gives such a beautiful finish!

I found the drawer pulls in a 6-pack at Target, and I just love how they pop on the white dresser! They have a modern/industrial vibe that I’m so into right now. When I removed the old handles I found multiple holes under them, so I was super nervous that I’d have to fill some in. But guess what? These handles covered the extra holes perfectly! I’m so happy they did, because I’m always happy to avoid any unnecessary hole patching!
