I’ve been wanting to try out Fusion Mineral Paint for so long, and I finally got the chance to this week! I scored a sweet little night stand / end table for only $5 a few weeks ago and it was the perfect piece to paint. It started as a dirty and forgotten end table and I’ve given it brand new life!
Thank you to Fusion Mineral Paint for providing me the paint to write this review.

An Honest Review of Fusion Mineral Paint
The past few years I’ve been trying my hand at painting furniture, and having so much fun doing it! I started by painting an antique wood twin bed and an antique dresser with some interior satin paint. This method involved prepping the surface of the furniture with an oil-based primer which is very potent, and adds a lot of extra time to the project.
Then I moved on to trying chalk paint on an antique desk and for this farmhouse lamp makeover. I loved the ease of using chalk paint because there is little prep work needed and it adheres so well to so many types of surfaces. I’ve used it on wood furniture and glass jars with great success!
The problems I have with chalk paint is that it dries almost too fast so that I don’t have time to catch drips. It shows some pretty significant brush strokes, and needs a top coat or wax finish afterwards to protect the paint.
I feel like wax is a lot of work to apply, and then you have to re-apply again in the future because it can wear off. I’m a busy mama of 4 and don’t feel like I have the time to go back and re-apply wax to my furniture later!
Then I tried mineral clay-based paint which is very similar to chalk paint, and I fell in love! It goes onto surfaces with such ease, and again very little prep so you don’t have to spend tons of time sanding the surface. It hardly shows brush strokes and has a great finish!
Some of my favorite bloggers were using Fusion Mineral Paint on their DIY projects, and I was intrigued! I saw Lauren at Bless’er House use it on her furniture and it turned out beautifully. When I read about her great results with the paint I decided to give it a try to see how it worked in person.
Materials Needed:
- Side Table
- Towel or Cloth
- Wood Filler
- Putty Knife
- Sand Paper
- Fusion Mineral Paint in Lamp White
- Paintbrush
- Knobs (I used these from Hobby Lobby)

I started my project by cleaning my side table with a wet towel, just to clean off any dust and dirt. This piece was very dirty, so it took a little while to get it clean. It did have one spot on the top that had a large dent, so I filled that with some of this wood filler and then sanded it down when it was dry.

Next I applied one coat of Fusion Mineral Paint in Lamp White. I was immediately impressed by the consistency of the paint, and the fact that I didn’t need to stir it initially because it doesn’t separate. It went onto the surface of the night stand smoothly and didn’t dry too fast.
When I have used chalk paint in the past I found that sometimes it started to dry too fast for me, and it was difficult to catch mistakes or drips before it dried. I didn’t have this problem at all with Fusion Mineral Paint!
Then I applied my second coat and found that the coverage was awesome! This piece started as black, and yet just 2 coats of Lamp White left it looking amazing already! In this photo you can see that the left side of the drawer has 2 coats, and the right side has just 1 coat.

I decided to add a third coat to the side table just to make sure it was evenly coated. There were parts that definitely looks good with just 2 coats, so this paint has amazing coverage! You can’t even tell that this white side table started out in the color black!
My Favorite Things About Fusion Mineral Paint
One thing that I love about Fusion Mineral Paint is that it already has a top coat mixed in! This makes it such a great one-step process and saves so much time. For someone like me who is constantly on the go with 4 kiddos, I really appreciated being able to paint this piece quickly and be able to skip the step of adding a top coat or sealer!
Another plus that I have to mention is that Fusion’s products are non-toxic, zero VOC, lead-free, and contain no ammonia or formaldehyde! This is incredibly important to me and my family, as I have been phasing out toxic products in our home for quite some time. Keeping my family safe is such a high priority for me and finding a safe non-toxic paint is essential. I do not want to risk my family’s health with toxic products!
Here are the after photos using Fusion Mineral Paint in the color Lamp White. The color is a very beautiful white/light grey. I feel like it is not too stark and blends in beautifully with any kind of decor. I added some vintage-style knobs from Hobby Lobby for $2 a piece and now it is the perfect piece for my daughters’ shared room! For only $9 plus about 1/6 of a container of paint it looks like a brand new side table!

I’m so excited with how this turned out, and I can say that I highly recommend Fusion Mineral Paint! It was so easy to use, had amazing coverage, and is safe for my family. I’m looking forward to trying more of their products in the future!
