I’m so excited to share my plans for my farmhouse laundry room makeover! I have been planning this makeover for a few years and I am finally ready to make it happen. When I heard about this month’s $100 Room Challenge hosted by Erin at Lemons, Lavender & Laundry I knew I wanted to participate!
I came up with a design plan earlier this year with the look I wanted to achieve for my laundry room. To be able to stay within a $100 budget for this makeover I had to make a few adjustments to my plan to keep it budget-friendly. I decided to spend the majority of my budget by creating a statement wall that would be the main focus of the room.
In my design plan I included a bold tile pattern for a backsplash above the counter. I love the look and pattern of these type of tiles, but unfortunately they are out of my price range. Instead of using tile I will be using a stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils to create the look of tile by using paint. This is such an amazing budget friendly way to create the look of tile!
I will also be creating some DIY artwork, spray painting some dollar store bins for organization, and creating some open shelving. Let’s look at some before photos shall we? It’s pretty much the definition of a blank slate!

To-do list with my estimated budget breakdown:
- Paint the accent wall above the counter with leftover white paint: Free
- Use a stencil to paint a pattern with grey chalk paint: $30 for the stencil and paint
- DIY hand painted artwork: $10
- DIY open shelving: $35
