I’ve been searching for the perfect budget-friendly farmhouse coffee table for a couple years now, and I still never found exactly what I wanted (without having to spend a fortune)! After many failed searches on Craigslist, Facebook buy/sell/trade groups, and home decor stores I had almost given up. I thought that my only option was to try to find a budget-friendly large storage ottoman that would be kid-friendly and still functional.

A few weeks ago a friend generously offered to give us a coffee table that they didn’t need anymore, and I knew that it would look great with some paint! After I finished giving it a makeover I absolutely fell in love with it, and it has officially found it’s place in our living room! It fits so well in our living room and brings some beautiful farmhouse character to our space. It feels good to finally have a farmhouse coffee table that is functional and fits well with my home decor style.

Farmhouse Coffee Table Makeover
This coffee table has a great shape and was in very good condition. There were only a couple imperfections on the table top, but nothing that paint couldn’t cover up! Here are the before photos:
First I dusted the table with a towel to make sure the surface was clean. Then I started giving the legs and sides the first coat of paint (in the color pebble beach) with my favorite oval paint brush. It holds so much paint!
Then I used a small paint roller to paint the table top and give it an even coat.
After I let the first coat dry I gave the table a second coat and let that dry. This decor paint is clay based with a chalky finish, so it sticks so well to the surface and dries super fast!
Next I applied 3 coats of this amazing clear coat. It is seriously the best clear coat I have used because it applies so easily and it is VOC-free and low odor. I was able to apply it while inside the house and could hardly smell it at all!
After the last coat of clear coat I let it dry overnight and then added some farmhouse decor! I love how my wood tray pops against the beautiful grey color of the table. It provides some bright contrast against my decor and really brightens up the room!
Isn’t is amazing how paint can totally transform a piece of furniture? It is such a simple and easy way to give your furniture a brand new look!
I hope you enjoyed this farmhouse coffee table makeover. It turned out to be such a beautiful transformation! I will be having fun changing out the decor on this table for years to come!
