Easy DIY Patriotic Wreath

This DIY Patriotic Wreath is so easy to make, and costs less than $5!

Today I’ve got a super quick and easy craft to show you! I’m always amazed at how satisfying it is to create decor with very little time and money. This DIY Patriotic wreath is so easy and simple to make, and you literally only need two materials! Whaaat? No, it’s not too good to be true 😉

While shopping at Hobby Lobby last week I spied the grapevine wreaths in the floral section. They are already beautiful on their own – made with twigs, branches, and grapevine leaves. I love the natural look they have, and that each wreath is just a little different. For this project I wanted to enhance the natural beauty and just use one material to add a Patriotic feel.

I spotted the burlap wired ribbon in the floral section as well – and couldn’t pass up the red stripes. The burlap texture mixed with the red stripes is just beautiful!

And another great added bonus: It was less than $5! I used my 40% off coupon on the wreath making it only $2.99, and the burlap ribbon was on sale for $3.50 – and I only used half of the ribbon. Budget-friendly decor for the win!

Materials needed:

  • Grapevine wreath
  • Wired Burlap Ribbon

That’s it! This wreath is so easy to make – it literally took me less than 10 minutes to put it together!

How to make your wreath:

You’ll start by tucking the end of your ribbon behind one of the branches on the back of the wreath, the wire will bend nicely so that it stays in place. Then you’ll start unrolling your ribbon and start wrapping it around the wreath.

There were some places on the wreath that I tried to avoid covering up, because of some unruly branches. I didn’t want to bother with trimming a lot of branches off of the wreath so I avoided most of the problem spots. There were some curly bits of twine that I wanted to keep exposed – because it adds some character 😉

After I finished wrapping the whole wreath I cut my ribbon and tucked the loose end on the back of the wreath, just like I did at the beginning. I pulled the ribbon pretty tight and then made sure to pinch the wire edges to make them conform to the shape of the branches they were wrapped around. The ends stayed in place and I didn’t have to add anything else to keep them there! I didn’t even need hot glue for this project!
