Easy and simple DIY projects are right up my alley. Like this super easy hoop wreath that I put together last week while completing my very first one room challenge. I wanted to create a wreath with a simple color scheme by only using some greenery and an embroidery hoop. Just the simplicity of having the green and wood tones really appealed to me, and really fit the modern farmhouse feel of my daughter’s new room. Three of these wreaths only took me about 10 minutes to complete – I call that a win!
- Embroidery hoop
- Greenery or Floral Picks
- Floral Wire
- Scissors / Wire Cutters
How to make your DIY hoop wreath:
Your first step will be to cut your stems off of your pick, cutting close to the last leaf/flower at the base of the stem. Then you can arrange them on top of your hoop to get an idea of how many stems you want to layer around the hoop. I wanted to leave part of the hoop exposed so I only chose to cover about 2/3 of the hoop.
Then you will cut your floral wire into small pieces (I cut them to approximately 3 inches) and start to wrap them around both the hoop and the stems.
You will twist the wire on the back side to secure the stem to the hoop, and then press the wire down so that it is flattened as much as possible.
Continue with this step along the stems until each stem is secured against the hoop. Now you are ready to find the perfect place to hang it in your home!
With so many floral/greenery options available, you could take this DIY hoop wreath in so many directions. You could change out the greenery to fit each season (simply by removing the floral wire, and replacing it after you add the new greenery), use multiple hoops in an arrangement like I did in my daughter’s room, and even add embellishments like a little bunting banner. These would also be super cute as decorations for a baby shower, bridal shower, engagement party, or wedding!
Wasn’t that so insanely easy?! Its pretty awesome to only have to spend 10 minutes on such a sweet craft for your home. And after you make one of these, you’ll be itching to make more.
