Do you love to display photos in your home? I just love to see photos of my family around my house, and I love to find new ways to show them off. When I first read about making a DIY Photo Canvas I was pretty skeptical, but now I am a firm believer that you can do it yourself, and it can look awesome! You only need a few inexpensive supplies to pull this off. Soon you’ll be a photo canvas making machine.

You only need a few supplies for your photo canvas:
1. 8×10 Canvas
2. Mod Podge
3. 8×10 Photo Print
4. Foam Brush
5. Paint Brush (optional)
6. Black Paint (optional)
1. Your first step will be to brush a layer of the Mod Podge onto the canvas with your foam brush, making sure to get a nice even coat across the whole canvas. Then carefully place your photo print onto the canvas making sure to align the corners so you don’t have any uneven sides. Let this dry for a few minutes.
2. Next you will brush on a layer of the Mod Podge over your photo print, covering the entire print as well as the sides of the canvas and the parts where the photo edges meet the canvas edges. You will be able to see the brush stroke “texture” after it dries, so I chose to use horizontal brush strokes. After it has dried repeat this step so you have 2 coats of Mod Podge on top of the photo print.
3. If you want your canvas to have a colored edge, your next step is to paint the edges with your black paint. Once all the sides were covered I went back with a “dry” brush that had very little paint left on it, and I lightly brushed the corners and edges of the photo print to give it a “painted” look. The key to getting the light brush strokes is to have barely any paint left on the brush so you don’t have large dabs of paint going onto the print. Let this dry for a about 10 minutes.
4. Step back and admire your beautiful DIY photo canvas! You could do this in different sizes and even make a gallery wall with some family photos. This would also make a great gift for someone you love!
