Our builder-grade laundry room has some great features – a large counter top, sink, and built-in cabinets above the washer and dryer and below the counter top. It has a good amount of storage space and is fairly functional. However … it seriously lacks any character, color, or charm. I’ve been using our bland laundry room for almost 3 years – and I’m ready for a change!
Hunting for treasures at my local thrift store is one of my favorite things to do. I love the surprise of finding something special that I can use in my home. I’ve been able to find some great used furniture, dishes & glassware, baskets, picture frames, and light fixtures. With a little hunting you can sometimes score some amazing treasures!
I have always loved decorating for holidays year-round. My mom used to have a cute little shelf in our kitchen, and with each holiday she had sweet little hand-painted wood decor pieces to display on the shelf. A little Christmas tree at Christmas time, a painted egg for Easter, a turkey for Thanksgiving, and so on. For the months of June and July I remember setting her sweet little American Flag on the shelf. It was such a nice little reminder of the upcoming holiday, and it kept my brother and I excited about each new season.
For Father’s Day this year I wanted to create something sentimental that my kids could create themselves. I have always loved reading the hilarious answers that our daughter gives when she has done questionnaires at school. It is so funny to hear children’s opinions and observations about their parents – they are usually brutally honest and hilarious at the same time 😉
Today I’ve got a super quick and easy craft to show you! I’m always amazed at how satisfying it is to create decor with very little time and money. This DIY Patriotic wreath is so easy and simple to make, and you literally only need two materials! Whaaat? No, it’s not too good to be true 😉
