Thrift Store Transformation – DIY Jewelry Box

See how I created this DIY jewelry box! This is such an easy way to give an old jewelry box a new life! from A Heart Filled Home

Happy Tuesday, friends! Today I’m joining up with some fellow bloggers to share our thrift store transformations. I recently found a jewelry box at my local thrift store that needed some love. By using paint, glue, and new button knobs I transformed it into a beautiful jewelry box for my daughter!

The reason I picked up this jewelry box in the first place is because one of my daughters had been requesting one. I bought a jewelry box for my 5 year old last month for her birthday, and of course this sparked some jealousy from her sisters! I didn’t realize just how much my oldest daughter had been coveting one, so I had been on the lookout for something similar.

When I spotted this worn out jewelry box at our local thrift store I knew that some paint would give it a brand new life. I had some Country Chic Paint on hand that I had been saving for a project for my girls, and this was the perfect project!

Materials Needed:

DIY Jewelry Box

I started by giving the jewelry box a good cleaning with a towel and water. I didn’t need to scrub off the drawings because I knew the paint would cover everything. Country Chic Paint has amazing coverage and adheres to just about any surface!

Then I removed the drawers and the mirror, and applied 2 coats of paint. One of the drawer pulls was missing, so I purchased some of these wood buttons at Hobby Lobby to replace them. The original drawer pull had been glued on, so I pulled on it until it popped off.

After the paint had dried, I used some of my favorite Gorilla glue to add the new wood buttons to the drawers. I love how the raw wood on the buttons looks against the soft pink of the jewelry box, so I left them natural and didn’t paint them.

I have 4 daughters, so I have definitely embraced pink! I love this color because it is a very soft pink that definitely still looks like a neutral color with just a hint of pink. What do you think?
