Easter is quickly approaching and I am so happy that Spring has arrived! It is so refreshing to see bright beautiful flowers in bloom. The nice weather gives me a spring in my step and I love to admire the signs of new life. This year I created an Easter banner to give us a reminder of why we celebrate Easter.
My thriftiness and desire to DIY my own projects sometimes leads to me hoarding items until I can figure out what to do with them. I have a huge stash of craft items and thrift store finds just waiting for inspiration to strike. Sometimes it can be a good thing – like this project for instance! A few years ago I found this wine crate at my local thrift store for a few dollars and knew that I could use it for an organization project. It now serves as a functional part of our home and helps with our pantry organization!
As a brand new Mom I did tons of research on the items that I thought we might need, and filled our registry and nursery with all of those items! Now 3 kids later … I know that there are quite a few things that weren’t actually necessary and some that were very essential! I have put together the 15 items that I really can’t live without as a Mom.
This list will help you narrow down your needs and will keep you from feeling overwhelmed and also help you save money! If you know a Mom-to-be this is a great gift guide for baby shower gifts. This is such a time-saver so you don’t have to spend tons of time researching all the things!
We recently moved my 2 year old daughter into her own room. Sharing a room with her older sister was not working how we hoped it would. We went through many nights of her climbing out of her crib, waking her older sister, resulting in both of them crying and getting upset. It was not a good fit for this stage of life but luckily we had an office that we could convert into a bedroom for her. This meant that we had to do some time-consuming tasks like packing, moving furniture, and cleaning – but it also meant that I got to re-decorate a room just for her. There is a bright side to everything, right?
While brainstorming decorating ideas and perusing Pinterest, I found an idea for a DIY wall hanging. I have been seeing these sweet wall hangings everywhere lately and l love the soft texture that they bring to a room. When I found out how easy and budget-friendly this project was I couldn’t wait to get started! I got together with a couple of friends and we had a craft night while working on wall hangings for our homes. Warning: after you make one of these and see how simple and easy it is, you’ll want to make one for every room in your house!
I have always admired the romantic look and feel of a canopy. As a little girl I imagined that princesses must have large beds with sheer canopies draped over the sides. I must admit that after I moved into my first apartment in college I added some sheer curtains that hung around my bed to create a “canopy” feel to my room. I absolutely loved it – and it did make me feel a little like a princess. And no, there aren’t any photos to document this canopy-phase of my college years (phew).
